To Become a Member of Brisbane Bushwalkers Club

If you're interested in joining Brisbane Bushwalkers Club:

  • You must be over 18 years of age.
  • Complete the on-line registration form MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION
  • Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions and Acknowledgement of Risk form during the registration process.
  • Pay the membership fee of $40.00, following the instructions provided during the registration process.

The membership fee covers the year from 1 January - 31 December. The joining fee is $40 regardless of date joined and you will be financial until 31 December of the year in which you joined.

The exception to this is new Members joining in October, November and December of a year will be regarded as financial until December of the following year.

On receipt of your application form and payment of your membership fee, you'll be assigned Probationary membership status and you'll receive an email providing further information about your first walk and how to nominate for a New Member Induction (NMI).  The email also includes a link to the BBW Members Handbook which you should read prior to your NMI.

New members are unable to participate in any outdoor activity until completion of a NMI. At the NMI, you'll be instructed on the Club processes, what to take on a walk, the BBW grading system, safety in the bush, the bushwalkers' code of conduct, and other topics to ensure your walking experience is safe and enjoyable.

On completion of a NMI your membership status will be updated to Ordinary (Full) member.  Please allow up to a week.

Becoming a Leader

If you're a member thinking of becoming a leader, then start the process with a chat with leaders you meet on walks or a Committee member.

Leaders must be full members that have participated in at least 15 Club walks, excluding training walks. All aspiring leaders must attend a leader training course, which are run a couple of times a year. Contact the Safety and Training Officer for more information. training@brisbanebushwalkers.org.au

The application and approval processes along with the selection criteria the Committee uses when evaluating applications are set out in Schedule 13 Selecting BBW Activity Leaders.
